Austin and his parents knew the day would come when Austin would need heart surgery to repair a leaking aortic valve. After being under the watchful eyes of MCG Children’s Medical Center pediatric cardiologists for thirteen years, they still struggled when they were told that day had arrived. At age 13, Austin was already a mature young man ready for the challenge. His pediatric cardiovascular surgeon carefully explained the surgery in detail directly to him, as well as to his parents. Today, thanks to the skill and care of the pediatric heart team at MCG, Austin is an active high school student making plans for college.

Because of Austin, and the many other teenagers facing heart problems, MCG Children’s Medical Center provides world-class pediatric heart services. We are here to help children of all ages get a healthy start on life.
