November 20, 2002

Augusta, Ga. -- Thirteen-year-old Marcus Perry, a patient at the MCG Children's Medical Center, was recently selected to act as an ambassador for the state of Georgia, representing the millions of children served by the Children's Miracle Network.

Marcus, along with 60 other children across North America, will participate in the Foresters Champions Across America & Canada program. Held under the auspices of the Children's Miracle Network, the program helps raise support and awareness for children's hospitals across North America.

As part of his duties, Marcus will travel to Washington, D.C. on March 17 to participate in media events to help promote the work of children's hospitals. He will go on to Orlando on March 20 to participate in media events there as well as the live Children's Miracle Network Celebration Concert for Kids. "We are extremely proud of Marcus and know that he will do an excellent job of representing the CMC and the state of Georgia," said Cheryl Grace, Children's Miracle Network Director for the CMC.

The CMC is one of 170 hospitals affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network, which will host its next fund-raising broadcast live on Channel 12 on May 31 and June 1. Since partnering with the Children's Miracle Network in 1986, the CMC has raised more than $8 million.
