MCG Health System Nurses Honored at Seventh Annual Spirit of Nursing ShowcaseMay 19, 2004Augusta, GA

MCG Health System nurses were honored at the seventh annual Spirit of Nursing Showcase, presented by the Georgia Nurses Association, 10th District.

Ann Hayes, Nurse Manager of Perianesthesia Services and Cath Lab at the MCG Children’s Medical Center, was named CSRA Nurse Manager of the Year during the showcase. Ms. Hayes is responsible for administrative and clinical management of the Pre-op Clinic, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Sedation Service, Anesthesia Support and the Pediatric Cath Lab.

Nurses honored during the showcase were selected based on their significant contributions to nursing and health care in the CSRA, Georgia and nationally, exceptional leadership skills, effectiveness in promoting the professional image of nursing, mentoring skills, and sustained commitment to enhancing and improving health care.

In addition, eight nurses from MCG Health System received a “Spirit of Nursing” Award. They were: Sue Allen, Terence Leegan, Kay Abraham, Jill Williams, Paula Chambers, Karen Catchings and Randy Murphy. Tamara Dunstan was honored posthumously. Nurses who received this award exemplify a spirit of caring and commitment to nursing, whether at a patient’s bedside or in leading others.
