Dr. Hitt Named Vice President of Outcomes ManagementOctober 7, 2005Augusta, GA

Dr. John Hitt joins MCG Health, Inc. in the newly created position of Vice President of Outcomes Management.

He is responsible for the overall strategic direction and oversight of the Outcomes Management Program, including clinical care pathways, disease management programs, utilization and outcomes management and medical risk management.

"The creation of this position demonstrates our increased emphasis on improving our costs, quality and patient satisfaction," said Dr. Ralph Caruana, the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at MCG Health, Inc. "Given Dr. Hitt’s background, our programs should gain significant momentum in a short period of time."

Dr. Hitt comes to MCG Health, Inc. from VHA in Colorado, where he served in various supply chain management, performance improvement and clinical affairs positions. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Systems Development and Medical Staff Services, Director of Subspecialty Clinics, Director of Urgent Care and Emergency Room Staff Physician at Fairview Health Systems in Minnesota.

He attended the University of Minnesota, where he completed an MBA degree, his Fellowship in Infectious Disease and his Residency in Internal Medicine. He completed a Research Fellowship in Geriatrics at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at MCG. Dr. Hitt is board-certified in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine.
