David KaranguGovernor Sonny Perdue recently appointed Augustan David Karangu to a three-year term on the MCG Health, Inc. Board of Directors. 

     Karangu is President and Chief Operating Officer of Mercedes Benz of Augusta and Fairway Ford of Augusta.  Previously, he held progressively responsible positions with a variety of automotive companies.  He is a past member of the Board of Directors of Augusta Prep School, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Augusta. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Morgan State University. 

     Karangu succeeds Dr. Shirley Lewis, President of Paine College, who served on the Board since MCG Health, Inc.’s inception in July 2000.

MCG Health System is composed of three separate organizations -- MCG Health, Inc. and the clinical services offered by the faculty employees of the Medical College of Georgia and the members of the MCG Physicians Practice Group Foundation. The physicians of MCG Health System are community physicians, faculty employees of the Medical College of Georgia, or employees of the MCG Physicians Practice Group Foundation, not employees of MCG Health, Inc.
