John K. Rezen, Administrative Director of Musculoskeletal Services at MCG Health, Inc., recently returned to his position after receiving a meritorious service medal for demonstrating exceptional leadership, resourcefulness and ingenuity during the past year of active duty as a Captain in the U. S. Naval Reserve.

Rezen is credited for revitalizing two directorates despite staffing shortages and leadership gaps resulting from multiple deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Specific citations include: overhauling the Command’s Security and Disaster Preparedness Programs, instituting post-deployment behavioral health services, increasing training compliance and readiness, significantly increasing primary care workload, and developing a cost reduction plan that saved $3.2 million dollars in the first year and is expected to reduce costs by $7.7 million dollars in subsequent years.
