MCG Health System volunteers were recently honored at the annual MCG Volunteer Appreciation Reception.

Jane Morris, a volunteer with the Children’s Heart Program, was awarded the night’s most prestigious honor, the Spirit of the Heart Award. Morris was recognized for her exceptional personal service and commitment, which has had a significant impact on MCG Health System and the community.

Seven volunteers were presented with the Golden Star Award, given to those volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty in their volunteer role. Awardees were: Mollee Atkinson, Health Partners Advisory Council member; Amalia Bonar, Child Life volunteer; Mary Byrd, a Children’s Medical Center Family Support volunteer; Rebecca Clark, an ICU Family Support volunteer; Mark Hines, Health Partners Advisory Council member; Pati Scottaline, a baby cuddler; and Bette Wright, a Family Resource Library volunteer.

The Excel Award was given to the staff of 5 West for their outstanding job of using volunteers to enhance MCG Health System’s patient- and family-centered care philosophy.
