Prior to joining the MCG Physicians Practice Group in 2004, Thompson was interim administrator of the Neurology Clinic in Memphis, Tenn. She earned her B.S. degree in Biology from Mary Washington College and her Masters in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn.

Thompson is a member of the CSRA Medical Managers Association; Columbia County Government Affairs Committee; Medical Group Management Association; American College of Medical Practice Executives; and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Physicians Practice Group was established in 1958 as the academic faculty practice plan of the Medical College of Georgia.  Physicians Practice Group is an unincorporated association and a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit entity.  Doctors of the Physicians Practice Group staff the clinical operations of MCGHealth as well as satellite practice sites across Georgia and South Carolina.
