MCGHealth Inpatient Child and Adolescent Evaluation and Treatment Program offers in-depth psychiatric evaluation and treatment planning for children ages four to 17 and occasionally younger, with severe behavioral or psychiatric problems.
The program features an interdisciplinary team and treatment approach, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, a recreational therapist, a special needs teacher, and psychiatric nurses and technicians. The staff maintains ongoing consultation with the child’s school to ensure that educational programs are continued throughout assessment and treatment.
Our clinical staff, which includes licensed social workers and psychologists, provides family assessment, consultation and therapy, parent management training, group therapy, and milleu therapy among other modalities. Following discharge referring physicians are provided with diagnostic assessments and treatment recommendations.

Pediatric Medical Services
Affiliated with the MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center, the Child and Adolescent Evaluation and Treatment Program is positioned to manage the diagnosis and treatment of complex co-occurring medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension and neurological conditions.
Admission Procedure
The Psychiatric Intake and Triage Service is staffed by mental health care professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 706-721-9331 or page the service at 706-721-7243, pager number 7300. Our intake and triage staff will promptly verify insurance coverage and contact the child and adolescent psychiatrist on-call to arrange the admission.
