MCG Health System includes:
- 478-bed MCG Medical Center
- More than 80 outpatient clinics in our Ambulatory Care Center
- Specialized Care Center housing a 13-county Level I regional trauma center
- 154-bed Children’s Medical Center housing a Level I pediatric trauma center
Clinical Achievements
- In 2001 and 2004, we were named to the U.S. News & World Report annual list of “America’s Best Hospitals.” We were among the top 50 in the diagnosis and treatment of hormonal disorders such as diabetes and thyroid conditions.
- Based on 2002 data, we were named one of 16 major teaching hospitals to be included in Solucient’s 100 Top Hospitals in 2003.
- Sixteen MCG physicians are included in the 2007 edition of America’s Top Doctors, a consumer health care referral book published by Castle Connelly.
- In 2006, we had the only Augusta area physician named to America’s Top Doctors for Cancer.
- In 2001/2002, 2003/2004 and 2005/2006, nearly half of the Augusta area physicians listed among The Best Doctors in America, published by Best Doctors, Inc. were MCG physicians.
- The Children’s Medical Center is the area’s only dedicated children’s hospital and is home to a dedicated pediatric Emergency Department.
- In 2001, 2003 and 2005, we were named one of the most preferred hospitals in Augusta in a consumer survey conducted by National Research Corporation.
- The Movement Disorders Clinic was designated a Center of Excellence by the National Parkinson’s Foundation, Inc.
- The University HealthSystem Consortium recognized us as one of the top three hospitals in the nation for outstanding performance in radiology.
- Our stroke program was recognized by the University HealthSystem Consortium as the best performer in the country for the treatment of ischemic stroke.
- The University HealthSystem Consortium recognized us as one of the top three hospitals in the nation for excellence in ambulatory care.
