Blood Donation

The Blood Donation program, which was established to provide blood needed for MCGHealth patients, relies on employees, friends, family members, visitors and the community for the donation of blood and blood components.

Please help us meet the needs of our patients by donating at MCGHealth. Donating blood is the easiest way to save a life. Less than one hour of your time can save up to four patients.

Blood Donation Facts

  • Shortages of all blood types happen during the summer and winter holidays.
  • There is no substitute for human blood.
  • Red blood cells carry oxygen to the body's organs and tissues.
  • You can donate blood every 56 days.
  • The MCGHealth Blood Donation Program tranfuses more than 1,500 components of blood each month.
  • The most common reason for NOT donating blood is because they weren't asked. Please donate!
