Onboarding Process
Welcome to MCGHealth! We are excited that you are joining our World Class Organization. Listed below are the Onboarding Guide steps. Failure to complete any of these steps may result in delaying your start date or your offer being rescinded. If you have any questions about any of these steps please contact your recruiter.
Onboarding Guide Steps
- Pick up New Hire Packet:
Stop by the Human Resources Talent Acquisition (HR) office to obtain your New Hire Packet. The HR office is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Located at 1515 Pope Avenue. Use the entrance facing Pope Ave. Visitor parking is available in the front of the building. If you need additional directions please call 706-721-1523. Please click the following link for a PDF of map to MCGHealth Human Resources office. Your packet should be picked up no later than your first scheduled Occupational Health appointment indicated on your Welcome to MCGHealth email.
- Provide Credentials:
Provide original degrees/diplomas/official transcripts, licenses, or certifications to the HR Office. Copies will not be accepted. Please remember all certifications and licenses must be current.
If you have a degree/diploma/transcript that needs to be translated and/or evaluated for credential purposes, contact your recruiter as soon as possible. Your recruiter can provide a list of translation service companies that can provide assistance to you.
- Complete Onboarding forms:
Employer Reference Forms or
Student/New graduate Reference Forms and
Criminal Background Check Authorization Form and
Education Verification form
If you have already completed and turned the above forms into HR as part of your application, then there is no need to complete again. If unsure, please contact the front desk of Human Resources at 706-721-1523.
On the forms, complete only the areas highlighted in yellow - we (HR) will call the references and conduct the background check. If you have means to fax these documents to expedite the process (recommended), please do so. Our office fax number is 706-434-5898. Three professional references (names and phone numbers) are required. At least one of the references must be a former or current supervisor. If you have concerns of us contacting your current supervisor and you have not notified them that you have accepted another position, please let the recruiter know immediately. It is advised for you to contact your references to inform them that MCGHealth will be calling them. Personal references or references from family members will not be accepted.
If you do not have means to download and print these forms, please come to the HR office and complete these forms within 48 hours of your offer.
- Attend Occupational Health Appointments:
You will have two (2) Occupational Health appointments prior to your first day of employment. Refer to your Welcome to MCGHealth email for your first scheduled appointment. Additional appointments will be scheduled by Occupational Health on the day of your first visit. Please keep all of your appointments. You will be required to present a photo ID at each visit. If you do not have a photo ID with you the appointment will be rescheduled which may delay the hiring process.
All candidates are required to undergo the following tests during the post-hire physical.
Please make sure to read this completely:
1. Candidates will be asked to provide a urine sample for testing. Make sure you do not drink large amounts of water prior to arriving. 2. Candidates are required to have a 2-step tuberculin skin test. The first skin test will be placed and read in our clinic and a second skin test will be required if you are unable to provide a copy of one that is less than one year old. If you have this, please bring a copy with you.
3. If you had a past positive reaction to the tuberculin skin test, then a copy of your most current chest X-ray will be required.
4. Blood will be drawn to check on the status of several childhood immunization levels prior to starting work. If titer levels are below acceptable limits, the Medical Director may offer updates on your vaccinations after your employment begins.
5. Most of our candidates are required to undergo an N-95 mask fitting session. Therefore, when answering the questionnaire, please be honest and forthright regarding any medical condition/s you may have.
6. Most of our candidates will have another appointment set to return to the clinic to be examined by our physician. Please make sure your schedule allows for this post-hire examination date.
7. Complete the required Post Hire Physical Document and bring with you to the first visit. You may call 706-721-3418 if you have any questions about the process. Click the following link for Post Hire Physical Document.
- Visit MCGHealth Security Office for Badging and Parking:
Your new hire packet will contain the required form to obtain a MCGHealth ID badge. Badges can be obtained at the Parking Office, BO 106, in the South Parking Deck. Your photo will be taken and you will be asked to register for parking. The badge will be issued on your first day of employment, which is New Employee Orientation.
- Contact Hiring Manager:
Please contact your hiring manager before orientation to verify your working schedule, dress code, and any other unit requirements that need to be met. The manager's contact information can be found in your MCGHealth Welcome Aboard email.
- Attend Hospital Wide New Employee Orientation:
New Employee Orientation is considered your first day on the job. Please dress appropriately for a professional setting (no shorts, jeans, inscribed t-shirts, etc.) Locate the date of your New Employee Orientation in your MCGHealth Welcome Aboard email.
It is important to be on time - all activities are designed to fully inform you about MCGHealth. Orientation is a full two days for all employees, with an additional three days for patient care affiliated positions (5 days). Orientation begins at 7:30 am.
Upon completion of Hospital Wide New Employee Orientation, your manager will begin your unit specific orientation.
- Attend Follow Up Interview Session:
Thirty and ninety days after Hospital Wide New Employee Orientation, you will have an opportunity to meet with your recruiter again. During the Follow Up interviews, the recruiter will ask questions about your orientation and MCGHealth in general. Be sure to locate the scheduled dates of the 30 and 90 interviews on your MCGHealth offer letter.
If you have any questions about your onboarding process, please don't hesitate to call.
Thanks and welcome aboard!
