Onboarding Process

Welcome to MCGHealth! We are excited that you are joining our World Class Organization. There are a few steps that are to be completed prior to your first day of employment (StartWise – orientation).  We have outlined those steps below.  Incomplete or missed steps will cause a delay in your start.

Onboarding Steps:

  1. Complete Employment Verification forms
    Please complete the forms below and return to Human Resources (fax: 706-721-1126), within 24 hours after the contingent offer being made by the Talent Consultant.  All forms must be signed and dated. 
  2. Occupational Health Services Appointments (Pre-employment Physical)
    A pre-employment physical be will scheduled by your Talent Consultant.

    For your first appointment, you will need a picture ID and have completed the Employment Physical Document. You may call 706-721-3418 if you have any questions about the pre-employment process. Click the following link for Employment Physical Document.

    If you are unable to keep your first appointment, please contact the Talent Consultant and reschedule. Additional appointments may be needed. Occupational Health Services will schedule any additional appointments during your first Occupational Health Services visit.  
     
  3. Provide Credentials
    Any required documentation listed on the position positing such as degrees/diplomas/official transcripts, licenses, or certifications must be provided to the Human Resources office when you pick up your new hire packet. You will be unable to obtain your new hire packet until all necessary documentation is provided. All documents must be originals, copies will not be accepted. All certifications and licenses must be current and not within a thirty day (30) expiration period.

    MCGHealth will only accept AHA BLS certification. If your position requires a Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) and you do not currently have an AHA certification or if the expiration date is within thirty (30) days of your scheduled day to begin orientation, you may go to the American Heart Association website to complete the written portion of the course. After doing so, contact the Center for Nursing Education at 706 721-8150 and schedule a BLS Skills Check-Off test. Fees may apply.

    If you have a degree/diploma/transcript that needs to be translated and/or evaluated for credential purposes, please refer to a credentialing service such as  the CGFNS International (also known as the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools). 
     
  4. Pick up Your New Hire Packet
    Please come into the Human Resources office to obtain your New Hire Packet. The Human Resources office is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m and is located at 1515 Pope Avenue. Visitor parking is available in the front of the building. Please click the following link for a PDF of map to MCGHealth Human Resources office. Your packet should be picked up before you begin your employment and can be obtained as early as your first scheduled Occupational Health appointment.  
     
  5. Visit MCGHealth Security Office for Your Employee ID and Parking
    Your New Hire Packet will contain the necessary documentation for you to obtain a parking permit. Employee ID’s and parking permits may be obtained at the Parking Office, BO 106, in the 15th Street Parking Deck. Your photo will be taken and you will be asked to register your vehicle for parking. Your employee ID will be issued on your first day of employment at the StartWise Orientation.  
     
  6. Contact Hiring Manager
    You may contact your hiring manager before orientation to verify your work schedule, dress code, and any other unit requirements that need to be met. Your hiring manager or assistant will join you for lunch on the first day orientation and will most likely provide your work schedule at that time.
     
  7. Attend StartWise - New Employee Orientation
    New employee orientation is considered your first day on the job. Please dress appropriately, business attire is acceptable (no shorts, no jeans, no denim, no inscribed t-shirts, etc.) The date of StartWise is indicated on your offer letter in your New Hire Packet.

    It is important to be on time! Orientation is a full two days for all employees. Positions affiliated with direct patient care will attend the entire week. Orientation begins at 7:30 am, with collection of payroll and I9 forms. Be sure to bring proper verification to verify your eligibility for employment in the United States of America.  
     
  8. Attend Follow Up Interview Session:
    Thirty days and six months after StartWise, you will be contacted by Human Resources. During these follow up sessions, we will inquire about your onboarding experience and your continued experience at MCGHealth.
