Celebrating 100 Years of Caring for Kids

The First Children’s Hospital in the South

A century ago, Wilhenford Hospital, the South’s first dedicated children’s hospital, opened its doors right here in Augusta. Since then, our community has been home to high-quality pediatric care and has made a difference in the lives of thousands of children across the region.

Today, MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center continues that tradition with a revolutionary approach to patient care. Patient Family Centered Care is a collaborative partnership among caregivers, patients and families. The Medical College of Georgia provides specialists, subspecialists and physician extenders, and trains tomorrow’s pediatricians. Thanks to great friends, a great community and a history of outstanding pediatric medicine, our kids receive the best of care — right in their own backyard.

Join us as we celebrate 100 years of caring for kids in Augusta.
