Doctor Movie Kicks off Children’s Hospital Series

May 20, 3008

Augusta, GA--

Since the event is presented by the MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center, it is only fitting that leading off the third annual Movies Under the Stars series is a doctor movie - a Dr. Seuss movie that is. The open-air series, featuring favorite family films on a giant 30-foot screen each Saturday in June, begins with Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who on June 7 at the Columbia County Amphitheatre, 7022 Evans Town Center Blvd. in Evans.

Following the Dr. Seuss movie is Alvin and the Chipmunks on June 14; The Water Horse on June 21; and Shrek the Third on June 28. Lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets and coolers are welcome, and concessions are also available. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

Gates open at 7 p.m., and each movie begins at dusk. Tickets are $2 for adults this year, and remain at $1 for children ages 13 and younger, payable at the gate by cash or check only.

"The MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center is pleased to again offer this affordable family entertainment," said Kim Marlatt, Director of Marketing and Planning for MCGHealth. "This is a popular series each summer, and while the price of gas and other commodities continues to rise, we are glad we can continue providing Movies Under the Stars at well under today’s theater prices."
