About Augusta

Augusta, Georgia, the "Garden City"
The second largest city in Georgia, Augusta is nestled on the banks of the Savannah River in east central Georgia. With a population of more than 450,000 in the metro area, greater Augusta offers all the cultural, entertainment and educational amenities of a big city, but with the charm, warmth, and hospitality of a small community.

Area growth continues to rise as more and more people discover our community's many advantages -- a mild pleasant climate, a low cost of living and a wealth of recreational opportunities. Perhaps best known as the home of the Masters Golf Tournament, Augusta offers much more, from performances by the Augusta Symphony, Augusta Opera, Augusta Ballet, and Augusta Players to the Augusta Invitational Rowing Regatta and the National Barrel Horse Association's World Championships.

Situated just across the Savannah River from South Carolina, our city is only two hours from Atlanta via I-20, approximately the same distance from Charleston and Savannah, and about three hours from the breathtaking Smokies and Blue Ridge mountains.

Combining the grace and character of a bygone era and the dynamic energy of a growing community, Augusta offers a uniquely satisfying lifestyle unlike any other.
