Criteria for Air Medical Transport
Pre-hospital / scene
• Airway / breathing emergencies
• Systolic BP < 90
• Glascow coma score < 8
• Suspected spinal cord injury or paralysis
• Penetrating injuries of head, neck, torso
• Blunt injuries to two or more body parts
• Crush of thorax, abdomen, pelvis, thighs
• Burns
• Falls more than 20 feet
• Major traumatic amputations
• Major lacerations
• Drownings
• Entrapment 20 minutes or more
Interhospital transfer
• MI and acute heart failure
• Patients requiring higher level of care
• Unstable airway / mechanical ventilation
• Cardiothoracic trauma
• Multiple trauma
• Spinal cord and unstable orthopaedic injuries
• Neurological trauma
• Burns
• Pediatric intensive care
• Neonatal intensive care
• Limb re-attachment
• Limb amputation
• Cardiac caths requiring intervention
