Beth Barranco graduated from the University of South Carolina at Aiken in 2000 with an Associate Degree in Nursing and completed her Bachelor’s in 2004. Ms. Barranco has worked since 2003 in an open heart recovery unit and has participated as a part time clinical instructor teaching senior level, critical care nursing students at USCA. In the Heart Transplant program, Ms. Barranco will be extensively involved in educating potential transplant patients and their families, as well as assisting in post transplant patient care.
Lisa Gerardot, MSW

Heart Transplant Social Worker
Ms. Gerardot graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master of Social Work degree in 1996. She has extensive experience working with families in crisis in both private and public settings. In the Heart Transplant Program, Ms. Gerardot will be working with transplant patients and their families to assess their resources and support. She will be providing patient education and therapeutic support.
Wakesi Murray
Heart Transplant Administrative Assistant
Wakesi Murray graduated from Athens Technical College in 1997 with a diploma in Secretarial Science. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management through the University of Phoenix. Ms. Murray has extensive experience providing administrative support in healthcare settings. In the Heart Transplant program, she will serve as the referring physician’s initial point of contact, will schedule patient appointments and assist the team with all administrative duties.

Heart Failure Nurse Practitioner
Marc Rhodes received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1991 and a Bachelor’s in Nursing in 1996, both from Georgia College and State University. He graduated with a Masters in Nursing in 2000 from the Medical College of Georgia. He is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners/ Family Nurse Practitioner. Mr. Rhodes has been involved with cardiac nursing since 1996. He participates in the medical management and education of heart failure patients and their evaluation for heart transplant.
