Courses in American Sign Language 

A Basic Course in American Sign Language - Beginning Level
Tuesdays, July 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5, 12, 19, 26, 2008
5:30 - 7 p.m.
MCG Medical Center, Terrace Dining, Magnolia Room, 2nd floor
The course offers adults the opportunity to learn another language and communicate with those who are hearing imparied. It will cover the syntax of sign language, facets of deaf culture, and expressive and receptive finger spelling comprehension.
Cost is $40 plus $35 for a textbook.

A Basic Course in American Sign Language - Intermediate Level
Tuesdays, September 9, 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14, 21, 28, 2008
5:30 - 7 p.m.
MCG Medical Center, Terrace Dining Magnolia Room, 2nd floor
Building on the beginning level course, adults will continue to learn various aspects of sign language and participate in weekly activities that will enhance their signing skills and help them communicate with those who are hearing impaired. As a final project, students will create a story in sign language.
Cost is $40.

A Basic Course in American Sign Language - Advanced Level
Tuesdays, November 4, 11, 18, 25, December 2, 9, 16, 23, 2008
5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
MCG Medical Center, Terrace Dining, Magnolia Room, 2nd floor
Building on the intermediate level course, adults will learn more signs and will interact every week for 30 minutes with their “voices off” (signing only).  As a final project, students will attend a Silent Supper with persons in the deaf community to enhance communication with those who are hearing-impaired.
Cost is $40.
